Benzel-Busch Joins Mercedes-Benz USA to Commit $1.3 Million to Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA for Sports-Based Youth Development Projects

Just as we at Benzel-Busch Mercedes are passionate about investing in our local community and its sports teams and recreation clubs, Mercedes-Benz USA is always looking for great ways to make a positive impact on a national level.

This month we join Mercedes-Benz USA and its dealerships to commit $1.3 million to Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA.

Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is all about supporting projects that improve the lives of youth through sports. Our contribution is dedicated to the Foundation’s national initiative to fund 250 sports coaches in five cities: Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and New Orleans. The coaches will be trained and placed in sports-based youth development projects in underserved neighborhoods through Coach Across America, Laureus’ delivery partner. It’s an initiative that we are proud to say will provide mentorship to more than 40,000 kids.

“Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) and our dealer partners have a long tradition of supporting and giving back to our communities. When you combine that with MBUSA’s extensive involvement in high-profile sports events, this is an undertaking that really makes sense for us and provides a real benefit to youth across the country,” says Steve Cannon, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA.

With $3.5 billion cut from school sports budgets over the last two years, we are really excited to help rebuild a vital and empowering outlet for kids across the country.
