The new model boasts a multitude of fresh features and improvements—starting with better, faster, stronger fundamentals. The body is made almost entirely of aluminum and weighs in at nearly 300 lbs lighter than its predecessor. The V-8 engine has twin turbos, delivers 429hp and 32% more torque, and can shoot to 60mph in 4.5 seconds. And large ventilated disc brakes and new adaptive braking technologies (including Predictive Brake Priming and Automatic Brake Drying) come standard. The SL’s 7-speed automatic transmission is enhanced with three selectable modes for greater efficiency. The three modes include, true manual control via steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters, as well as fuel-saving ECO-Stop/Start System.

Not to be outdone by the heart of the car, the interior is a souped-up version of this classic. Available are exquisite, personalized touches from design company designo (like an exclusive program of paintwork and leather interior). The sound system is composed of twelve speakers plus two innovative FrontBass® subwoofers. And the huge, retractable panoramic roof lets the outside in.
