In our tradition of community support, Audi Meadowlands, powered by Benzel-Busch, once again sponsored this year’s 13th annual Battle of the Blue tournament: a gathering of New Jersey’s finest police officers as they took to the basketball court to raise money. The event was held at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Rothman Center on March 21st and raised more than $19,000 for Tomorrow’s Children Fund (Hackensack University Medical Center).
Tomorrow’s Children Fund (TCF) is committed to helping children with cancer and serious blood disorders. TCF provides a full scope of services to families with children in treatment. Benzel-Busch admires and congratulates TCF's extraordinary commitment.
This year’s Battle of the Blue was a great success. Fifteen police departments, including the Englewood Police Department, took part—both coming out en masse—and paying entrance fees to play, and collecting donations for TCF as the tournament approached. The teams had a great crowd, which even included The Real Housewives Jaclyn Laurita and sports greats Kevin Boothe (NY Giants) and Cliff Robinson (formerly of the NJ Nets).
The participating police departments included Bergenfield, Union City, Fort Lee, Englewood, Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Hackensack, Franklin, North Bergen, Paterson, Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Ho-Ho-Kus, Teaneck, Passaic, Port Authority Police Department and Fairview. Bergenfield dominated the tournament.
