We’ve had a busy summer here at Benzel-Busch. We debuted the Mercedes-Benz 2013 models. We completed our brand new 7,000-square-foot facility, and we’ve connected with dozens of local organizations—including the Go4TheGoal Foundation and Nutley Township’s Go Green Committee.
Check out our past posts for information about some of the incredible local organizations we support. And read on for a little about the Go Green Committee and Go4TheGoal’s Richard’s Run …
Nutley (NJ) held its Green Day at the Market on September 23rd. The township’s Go Green Committee—appropriately named Greenutley— is all about raising environmental awareness. They’ve made a lot of progress since their founding in 2008 and the township currently holds a bronze-level Sustainable Jersey certificate (they’ve got their eye on silver level status).
The committee is focused on spreading the green message and getting the community on board through education, activities, and events like Green Day at the Market. The eco fair was held in conjunction with Nutley’s weekly farmer’s market (on municipal parking lots #1 and #8, at Franklin Avenue and William Street) and included new vendors and workshops—and our smart car from smart center Englewood was on display and available for test drives.
This is the third year for Nutley’s weekly farmer’s market, and we at Benzel-Busch have been a part of their eco fests from the start. In fact, we provided smart car test-drives at the township’s very first eco fest too!
Then, on September 30th, Go4theGoal held its Richard’s Run 5K. Dr. Richard and Beth Stefanacci, a New Jersey couple whose son was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, founded Go4theGoal in 2006. The purpose of the foundation is to provide financial and emotional support to families and their children, as they undergo cancer treatment.
Cancer is becoming ever more pervasive and organizations like this are a lifeboat for people coping with the disease. Go4theGoal has been an incredible fundraiser: dedicating money to granting wishes to children in treatment and raising $500k for innovative pediatric cancer research. Benzel-Busch was a platinum sponsor for Richard’s Run and also provided a smart car, from smart center Englewood, for the race’s pace car.
