With summer upon us, now is an important moment to remind people big and small, on sunny beaches and overcast streets, that sun protection needs to be top of mind. And not just during the hot summer months, but year round.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States—with more than one million people diagnosed every year.
Driving the sun-protection initiative in New Jersey is local organization The Live SunSmart Foundation (LSSF)—founded 20 years ago in memory of Ray Festa and dedicated to making people aware of both the dangers of melanoma and what they can do to have fun in the sun safely.
We at Benzel-Busch are excited to be supporting LSSF at their second annual Celebrate Living SunSmart™ Gala on May 30th at Maritime Parc in Liberty State Park (NJ). This year, the foundation will honor former Pittsburgh Steelers coach and Melanoma Exposed spokesperson Bill Cowher. Other notable guests will include NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, CBS News anchor Jim Axelrod and sportscaster Spencer Ross.
Guests of the gala will enjoy a cocktail hour, three-course dinner and performances by both former The Voice contestant Vicci Martinez and standup comic Johnny Lampert.
They will also have the chance to play Roll to Win Wheels and win a 2014 smart Cabriolet, donated by Benzel-Busch’s smart center Englewood store—and each guest will receive a $250 smartcar voucher (Benzel-Busch will donate $250 to LSSF for each smartcar purchase with voucher).
