2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV Research by Benzel-Busch

Finding more in every drive.

The GLC takes all the hallmarks of a midsize SUV and advances them in every direction, and every dimension.

Comfort, capability, flexibility, convenience: Much is expected from an SUV.

Beneath the hood is a new 4-cylinder engine with an integrated starter-generator, an innovation that adds intervals of power to an already muscular drive. This feature also delivers hybrid levels of fuel efficiency, allowing the vehicle to “sail,” or drive without calling on the combustion engine.

The 2023 GLC SUV boasts an impressive 2.0L inline 4-cylinder turbo engine with 48-volt mild hybrid system, that puts out up to 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque (+ 23 hp and 148 lb-ft through electric starter-generator).

Mechanically similar to the sedan—and like the sedan equally hard to tell from its predecessor—the 2023 GLC shares the C-class's standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 48-volt hybrid system, and nine-speed automatic transmission; a plug-in hybrid model will join the lineup later on.

Now that the 2023 GLC is 2.4 inches longer overall, Mercedes has added a bit of extra space inside. We're hoping this will make the 2023 GLC -- the best-selling Mercedes of 2020 -- a better fit for those who don't want the size or expense of the larger GLE. As for the 2023 GLC's standard features, that shouldn't be a problem the way it was for the last-gen SUV.

Quick and quiet, the GLC 350e is the only plug-in hybrid that's also a GLC, which means fresh style, new technologies and richer refinement for 2021. And from safety to style to space, it's hard to top it for innovative luxury, too.
